Mellow Monday! Amuro Namie – Baby Don’t Cry

This week’s mellow monday is one of my all time favourite Japanese songs, ‘Baby Don’t Cry’ by Amuro Namie. This song is just so relaxing to listen to and her voice is so mesmerising, I can sit here for hours flicking through her music.

I’m not going to add much after this, a part from the general other songs to check out. I am absolutely shattered from work. I will be back Wednesday with a post as I have a day off. I might go for a walk in the morning around the forest by my house.

Songs to check:

  • Hide and Seek
  • Hero
  • Mint
  • Girl Talk
  • How to be a girl

I’m going to sign off now.

Happy reading, and let me know if you like the song.

Mellow Monday! Honourable Mention

I know I did a mini Mellow Monday in my January recap post, but I do feel like I need to do an honourable mention to a song.

So I know not many of you will know this band well but 2NE1 were one of those cornerstone groups in k-pop. They paved the way for many groups that followed them, they had a extremely large fanbase, and a catalogue of incredible songs.

This song marks their break up as a band, it’s a very simple song but a very touching one – I mean many fans were broken when Minzy left, and then to hear that they were calling it a night.

I shan’t add too much because the song speaks for itself. Enjoy guys.

Mellow Monday! Jay Park – Aquaman

This isn’t gonna be a long Mellow Monday but I shall introduce to one of my guilty pleasures – Jay Park.

Jay Park for me has been relevant since 10 points out of 10 with 2pm. I loved his flips throughout the music video and I loved the beat of the song. Jay left 2pm after a misunderstanding with the CEO and fans about a post he made on social media and then started his illustrious career as a fusion of RnB and hip hop – he’s like the right kind of cocktail for music tbh, his beats are sultry and the vibe of the music is just so right for certain times of the day.

I’m not going to lie to you and say I’ve always been a massive fan of all his music, because at one point I did drift away from him. But the release of his Everything you wanted album marks the beginning of the return. The entire album is full of jams from start to end, including a remix of all time favourite Turn off your phone with a smidge of Mommae.

It has the Korean and English versions of All I Wanna Do and Me like Yuh, which is great because both versions of each are great songs in their own respects – the Korean version for the inclusion of Hoody, and the English version for its lyrical value.

I have to say my favourite song from the album is Aquaman. I am truly in love with the the RnB elements to this song. The dance version video has MJ inspired moves. And just the general atmosphere of the song is just great.

His lyrics could be considered very questionable at times but nonetheless Jay Park is seriously an artist you should check out. His constant collabs with Cha Cha Malone will inspire you to venture across genres and just enjoy music you normally thought you wouldn’t.

Before I sign this post off I have some recommendations:

  • Drive (ft Gray)
  • The entirety of Fresh Air! Breath It!
  • Up and Down
  • Me Like Yuh
  • All I Wanna Do
  • If You Love Me by NS Yoon-G which Jay features on for a cute love song
  • And, I Love You (ft Dynamic Duo)

That’s all folks, see you in a few days with my revamped Gamer Tag

Mellow Mondays! Simply Red – Fairground

Now I know many aren’t going to with my choice of Mellow Monday this week, but, you have to understand that I love Simply Red. This band for me epitomise my childhood, yes my childhood even if i was born in ’96, they were my soundtrack, amidst other band. I have fond memories of 4 hour drive down to the Cornwall coast with my family, repeating the life out of the Stars and Home albums. We literally sang the whole journey there and back.

Now many people dislike Simply Red because they dislike Mick Hucknall, they loathe his attitude and just general aura when he’s off stage. However, I have never met the man, nor will I probably ever, but his on stage presence and his music gives me chills, so I won’t disregard his status as a musician.

Something about their music just brings a smile to my face, so today I share with you one of my favourite Simply Red songs, Fairground. My mum always makes me chuckle when we binge listen to their discography, because no matter what she is doing, as soon as this song starts, she starts swaying about – the last time was literally about 5 minutes before I started writing this post, stopped mid walk and was just having a little jig on her own in the middle of the walk. I personally can’t fault this song, the only thing is the music video has some sultry hip action by someone in tight red pants and it always has me in tears.

I have had the privilege of seeing this band play live. I was truly a wonderful last minute thing – My parents were supposed to go with a friend of theirs and her son, but the son had to pull out last minute. So the day before the show I was asked if I wanted to go and I almost threw my phone. Over-exaggeration? Potentially. Worth it? Hell yes! The set-list was incredible, although I did have to leave mid-encore because work beckoned me – I was grateful enough they would let me miss the first half of my shift and about 30 minutes of the second part because I practically begged them to let me have this one thing.

Well, I’m going to end this post now simply because I could take for hours about this group, their music, and the fond memories I have with each song. But below I shall list a few other songs by them that you should check out:

  • Sunrise – For anyone who loves the original version by Hall & Oates ‘I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do) which sections of that song were sampled for this.
  • Stars – because it’s just a beautiful song
  • Home
  • Holding Back the Years – Their original version as the Frantic Elevators, and the reprise in a sense as Simply Red
  • A New Flame

Okay, I really am done before i just post a link to their entire discography.

Write soon !

Mellow Monday!

Talking to Arianna on the 17th I told her about the two new features I came up with for the blog, Mellow Monday has to be our favourite of the two. We are both massive music lovers, spanning across many genres and languages, and we would love recommending and telling you about the music we love. We are going to do one each bi-weekly giving us both enough time to cultivate a good-read post.

So today is my first Mellow Monday post! And today I’m going to share with you SECHSKIES. Now SECHSKIES are very old Korean-pop group. Not to go into too much detail, whereby this becomes a biography – they debuted back in 1997, when I was a wee baby of 1 years old, and had an amazing career. They had a ‘rival’ band called H.O.T – I say rival band, but it’s like the friendly rivalry between Take That and East 17. They were signed under DSP Entertainment and had an amazing stage presence, a massive fanclub and some really touching and incredible songs. Many fans were distraught when they disbanded back in 2000 – what a start to millennium.

The reason I am sharing my love for SECHSKIES, is because this year in 2016, they have made a comeback! They have remastered some of their classic and most popular songs. The one at the top is from 1998 and it’s called Couple. I love how simplistic and mellow the song is. It really shows the progression of K-pop from when they first debuted to now with modern bands storming the charts.

I’m not going to say I came out the womb being a YellowKies (formally DSF – this is their fanclub name), but I learnt of them and my affection for the band grew after religiously watching the drama ‘Reply 1997’ – There is a post in the making about good dramas I think you should watch ^.^

So I’ll end this post here with another of my favourite songs called Three Words

All rights on the music videos go to YG Entertainment and SECHSKIES

New Features!

“The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt” – The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath; Sylvia Plath.

So I’ve been racking my brain endlessly to find things to blog about – it becomes increasing difficult to fathom ideas as 1) My brain is fried from work; 2) I’m always exhausted; and 3) My creative mojo has basically shrivelled up and died.

But as I mentioned in the previous post I’ve been somewhat enrolled on the Fundamentals of Blogging course provided by WordPress, and I’ve decided, like day 14 suggests, to start a feature on my blog. I’m going to push the boat out and do 2 but I feel like I can do it.

The first feature is going to be called ‘Mellow Mondays’. Cliche I know but it’s pretty much going to be a weekly post about my new favourite album or song at the time. It might be a short review or just a few words about it but I haven’t decided the final layout. I mean this will be an interesting thing to start as I have always been very opinionated about music, and I listen to music from a broad spectrum of genres so it’ll be fun.

The second feature will be ‘Photography Friday!’ I was considering playing with the name and spelling photography with an F for alliteration purposes but I could see it bothering me every time I glance at a post. If anyone here also follows my second blog Aimotion then you will see some of the pictures I’ve posted on there, but I feel like this could make for a nice feature on the blog as well.

I’m going to leave this post here. I’m tired and I’ve got some things to do around the house before I sleep. The first of each feature will be up starting next week Monday and Friday so stay tuned!

Have an amazing week guys!
