First Mellow Monday of the year and were going for a massive throwback. This was originally going to be posted last month but I took a short break.
This song always makes me smile and is just such a chill song.
5 years on and still a fave.
Enjoy everyone ^.^
I know I did a mini Mellow Monday in my January recap post, but I do feel like I need to do an honourable mention to a song.
So I know not many of you will know this band well but 2NE1 were one of those cornerstone groups in k-pop. They paved the way for many groups that followed them, they had a extremely large fanbase, and a catalogue of incredible songs.
This song marks their break up as a band, it’s a very simple song but a very touching one – I mean many fans were broken when Minzy left, and then to hear that they were calling it a night.
I shan’t add too much because the song speaks for itself. Enjoy guys.
Today’s mellow Monday for me was a toss up between 3 songs for me, but I chose this one for this week.
Not much to say about the song but it is one of my newest favourites – it’s not exceptionally long but it’s just so cheery and starts my day off with a quip every time I get ready to this.
NCT 127 are a sub unit of the massive group called NCT aka Neo Culture Technology in South Korea. Signed under SM Entertainment, NCT 127 are the sibling group to NCT Dream and NCT U – with each group bringing a different vibe and sub-genre to kpop. They have beat and dance forward songs that are catchy from the offset. They are one of my favourite debuts from last year ^.^
Other songs to check out:
- NCT U – The 7th Sense
- NCT 127 – Firetruck
- NCT Dream – Chewing Gum
Pretty awesome things happening right now and we’ve only started the year. Year in review coming soon, just haven’t got any time at the moment to upload because work.
See you on the flip side ❤
Talking to Arianna on the 17th I told her about the two new features I came up with for the blog, Mellow Monday has to be our favourite of the two. We are both massive music lovers, spanning across many genres and languages, and we would love recommending and telling you about the music we love. We are going to do one each bi-weekly giving us both enough time to cultivate a good-read post.
So today is my first Mellow Monday post! And today I’m going to share with you SECHSKIES. Now SECHSKIES are very old Korean-pop group. Not to go into too much detail, whereby this becomes a biography – they debuted back in 1997, when I was a wee baby of 1 years old, and had an amazing career. They had a ‘rival’ band called H.O.T – I say rival band, but it’s like the friendly rivalry between Take That and East 17. They were signed under DSP Entertainment and had an amazing stage presence, a massive fanclub and some really touching and incredible songs. Many fans were distraught when they disbanded back in 2000 – what a start to millennium.
The reason I am sharing my love for SECHSKIES, is because this year in 2016, they have made a comeback! They have remastered some of their classic and most popular songs. The one at the top is from 1998 and it’s called Couple. I love how simplistic and mellow the song is. It really shows the progression of K-pop from when they first debuted to now with modern bands storming the charts.
I’m not going to say I came out the womb being a YellowKies (formally DSF – this is their fanclub name), but I learnt of them and my affection for the band grew after religiously watching the drama ‘Reply 1997’ – There is a post in the making about good dramas I think you should watch ^.^
So I’ll end this post here with another of my favourite songs called Three Words
All rights on the music videos go to YG Entertainment and SECHSKIES
Since my last post, I’ve been mulling around in the thing I call my brainspace and I have decided that in my spare time I will focus on refining and improving my ‘almost’ non-existent drawing and photography skills in preparation for my new university degree – yes, you read correctly, I changed my degree. *cough* No judgements, I’m a very undecided person with this whole thing.
I feel like it would be a good use of my spare time, rather than sitting on my ass and starring into space.
Im not going to proclaim I am the best artist or will become the best artist because that’s just not logical haha. I mean along as I work hard on my skills I’ll be happy.
In other news, I have been watching a lot of anime recently, it’s like I rekindled my joy and love for the art form. I’ve compiled a list of ones to watch and all so it’s literally the only thing getting me through the sleepless night hours. My favourite of the year so far, and it’s no surprise, is Boku Dake ga Inai Machi (Erased). It was one of the best things I have ever watched/ read in my life – after finding the anime by chance, I found out it was based off of a manga and read that too. I like the subtle differences in the ending and I love the character development. But enough rambling.
On forth, I’ll update later ^.^
Considering one of my goals for this year was to blog more, this is quite shameful that this is my second post of the year and we are almost at the end of February. But non the less we shall crack on with this.
Not much has really happened in the past two months but we will discuss the high points. So I finally started my degree on the 1st of February and needless to say it’s going pretty well so far. I’m enjoying the course material and getting along with my assignments fine. (After I post this, I’m going to get dressed and plow through unit 2 in prep to do my first TMA tomorrow and Wednesday.) I think this is a first in my entire educational career that I’ve actually been excited to do work. I mean we can’t really compare my excitement for Film Studies with my excitement for Maths but yeah, I am making no sense again so moving onward.
I started going to the gym with my cousin last month and I’m pumped for some of the classes we have planned to attend. I also met a lovely woman who does personal training at our gym and she’s also a nutritionist, so getting some helpful tips for her was a blessing.
Last night I worked History’s London stop of their tour and it was exciting. I’ve always loved Kpop and their concerts, I have spent collectively on their shows over £400 but I have no regrets. Stage set up was cute and I loved the fact they had a meet and greet after with the lucky ones who could afford VIP. My colleagues are so cute for covering me to watch the show from the back of the room. It was also so amazing to meet some online friends who I haven’t spoken to in years because I left the group we used to chat in. I will always be remembered as the girl whose last name is part of a plant who had Kai as her display picture for a while I guess.
I picked up a lot of manga from our local bookshop the other day and the game Life is Strange. So once i get this assignment out of the way I will get down to completing the remaining 4 episodes of LiS and read my new purchases.
That’s pretty much it for fun things I have done this year so far, but I have planned with some friends to go see Deadpool this Friday so this should be fine.
