Mellow Monday! Amuro Namie – Baby Don’t Cry

This week’s mellow monday is one of my all time favourite Japanese songs, ‘Baby Don’t Cry’ by Amuro Namie. This song is just so relaxing to listen to and her voice is so mesmerising, I can sit here for hours flicking through her music.

I’m not going to add much after this, a part from the general other songs to check out. I am absolutely shattered from work. I will be back Wednesday with a post as I have a day off. I might go for a walk in the morning around the forest by my house.

Songs to check:

  • Hide and Seek
  • Hero
  • Mint
  • Girl Talk
  • How to be a girl

I’m going to sign off now.

Happy reading, and let me know if you like the song.

Mellow Monday! Epik High – Shoebox (ft MYK)

This weeks Mellow Monday! is the song Shoebox by Epik High ft MYK.

Epik High have always been one of my favourite groups – Their music is just sultry. Every song they bring out has a unique and signature ‘Epik High’ vibe.

The whole Shoebox album is incredible, holding so many individually standing songs. I wont write too much as the album pretty much speaks for itself.

Other songs to check out:

  • Born Hater (ft Beenzino, Verbal Jint, B.I, Mino & Bobby) – this collab has me gassed
  • We Fight Ourselves (ft Younha)
  • Lesson 5 (Timeline)
  • Rich (ft Taeyang)
  • Spoiler
  • Life Is Good (ft Jay Park)

Mellow Monday! Two Door Cinema Club – Are We Ready? (Wreck)

Hi guys! It’s Eli back with another Mellow Monday post! Today’s Mellow Monday is an old song – I mean it was released 7 months ago. But we celebrate this song and much of their discography because last Thursday, I had the privilege of seeing this band for a fourth time. And needless to say I’m not disappointed.

Two Door Cinema Club for me are a power group. Although many don’t know them by name, everyone at least once has heard one of their songs.

Even when they experiment with new styles and beats, it’s always recognisable as one of their songs.

Their presence when they perform live is incredible. Their voices alone are so atmospheric and the showman ship is applaudable.

It’s got to a point where friends of mine who I haven’t spoken to in about 4 years, messaged me asking if I was attending the show because one, I love the group. And two, I’m just that predictable.

I’ll keep this post short because I’m currently on the train heading to meet a friend.

Songs I recommend everyone to listen to:

  • Changing of the seasons
  • Something good can work
  • I can talk
  • Remember my name
  • Pyramid
  • Bad decisions

Just to name a few but I do suggest binge listening to their albums because it’s just that good.

I’m hoping to do another post before the week ends so see ya then x

Mellow Monday! Honourable Mention

I know I did a mini Mellow Monday in my January recap post, but I do feel like I need to do an honourable mention to a song.

So I know not many of you will know this band well but 2NE1 were one of those cornerstone groups in k-pop. They paved the way for many groups that followed them, they had a extremely large fanbase, and a catalogue of incredible songs.

This song marks their break up as a band, it’s a very simple song but a very touching one – I mean many fans were broken when Minzy left, and then to hear that they were calling it a night.

I shan’t add too much because the song speaks for itself. Enjoy guys.

January Recap with a Mellow Monday on the side

Hai Guys,

I know I haven’t even done my year review – let’s just agree that I blogged a lot more than the year before, I had some long and unexplainable hiatus’, I added 2 features to the blog (one of which I completely forgot existed). But we shall ensue with the January Recap ^.^

Favourite Game

Since purchasing, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Gravity Rush 2. I spoke briefly about the game in my recent gamer tag post, but I tell you its such a pleasing game. Visually, storyline wise and just in general. It’s a good follow-up to the first game and I’m excited to see how it progresses further.

Mellow Monday! Jay Park – Aquaman

This isn’t gonna be a long Mellow Monday but I shall introduce to one of my guilty pleasures – Jay Park.

Jay Park for me has been relevant since 10 points out of 10 with 2pm. I loved his flips throughout the music video and I loved the beat of the song. Jay left 2pm after a misunderstanding with the CEO and fans about a post he made on social media and then started his illustrious career as a fusion of RnB and hip hop – he’s like the right kind of cocktail for music tbh, his beats are sultry and the vibe of the music is just so right for certain times of the day.

I’m not going to lie to you and say I’ve always been a massive fan of all his music, because at one point I did drift away from him. But the release of his Everything you wanted album marks the beginning of the return. The entire album is full of jams from start to end, including a remix of all time favourite Turn off your phone with a smidge of Mommae.

It has the Korean and English versions of All I Wanna Do and Me like Yuh, which is great because both versions of each are great songs in their own respects – the Korean version for the inclusion of Hoody, and the English version for its lyrical value.

I have to say my favourite song from the album is Aquaman. I am truly in love with the the RnB elements to this song. The dance version video has MJ inspired moves. And just the general atmosphere of the song is just great.

His lyrics could be considered very questionable at times but nonetheless Jay Park is seriously an artist you should check out. His constant collabs with Cha Cha Malone will inspire you to venture across genres and just enjoy music you normally thought you wouldn’t.

Before I sign this post off I have some recommendations:

  • Drive (ft Gray)
  • The entirety of Fresh Air! Breath It!
  • Up and Down
  • Me Like Yuh
  • All I Wanna Do
  • If You Love Me by NS Yoon-G which Jay features on for a cute love song
  • And, I Love You (ft Dynamic Duo)

That’s all folks, see you in a few days with my revamped Gamer Tag

Mellow Monday! Dumbfoundead- Word!

What can I say, but it’s Monday and once again I’m excited. No not because I’m currently stood on the platform in the rain waiting to go work. It’s because I can finally share this week’s Mellow Monday with you all.

This week’s song is special to me, not because I share any great connection to it, but because it’s by one of my favourite artists of all time.

Our musical relationship started way back when his Dfd album was released. I used to religiously watch DavidSoComedy on YouTube and found his exit song Girlfriend by Jon Mcxro. Whilst getting acquainted with that song, I saw in the recommended Cool and Calm by Dumbfoundead. And I’ve never looked back.

Dumbfoundead’s lyrics aren’t your standard rap. They tell a story of his youth, his growth, and his aspirations. He soundtracked my late teen years – on my 17th, I rinsed his Old Boy Jon album in the set up for the evening.

During my college years, I listened to him whilst writing my essays and practice papers. I knew if I got through the entire Take the Stares album, I had spent too long on an English lit essay.

His verses that flow like a lyrical river, inebriates the mind, and even in my most stressful days, I mellow out to the silky songs present on every album.

I’m not going to lie and say he doesn’t rap about drugs, money and women. But he also raps about how it got to where he is, his family and the struggles he faced. If anyone remembers the AJ+ video about and American-Korean who released a song about the Oscar controversy, and the fact there is a serious issue with the representation of Asian actors in the Hollywood scene – this was him.

It’s always strange to hear someone talk about how a person, let alone artist has changed their life, but this man has. Even when I saw him perform at my soon-to-be work place back in 2012, I have never seen such a humble being in my life – plus his attempt at a British accent had me in fits of laughter for the following hours after his set finished.

Through Dumbfoundead, I have become acquainted with other artists such as Wax, Breezy Lovejoy and Andrew Garcia just to name a few.

I’m going to close this post off with a few other song suggestions, even though I recommend sitting down and just working your way through his entire discography:

  • Clear
  • W$TSDE
  • Cool and Calm
  • No More Sunny Days
  • Are We There Yet
  • It’s Not You
  • and What Do I Have To Do (where he features but this song is still great)

Have a great day and fingers crossed I get to work on time. Enjoy!
